Subject: RE: 60 series Detroit Diesel won't start

If your Detroit has electronic injectors, check at the battery. Look for some small wires going to the hot and ground. These are for the ECM, if the ECM doesn't get 12v it won't work and this controls the injectors. If you're jump starting this truck, connect the jumpers directly to the starter and make sure the battery has at least 12v for the ECM. What happens when you jump start from the battery when the battery is low is the starter pulls all the juice leaving nothing for the ECM. The results are the engine cranking, but not starting because although there is fuel up to the injectors, they don't fire.
