NC KS | Anybody know the going rate for fill dirt? Hope to have a building project going at work in 2010 and lot we have is big enough to borrow dirt from but it is as flat as a pancake. Any dirt we use would make a pond. What do you get paid for the soil at pickup point and any ideas of a per mile or per hour fee to bring it in? Thanks

If I remember correctly $2.50 per yard plus delivery.

Talk to all the local excavation contractors and find out who is building a pond this summer they will be happy to give you clay and some will even help with the trucking.

Martinsville, Ohio | Not any more here, fill dirt is gold. $100 on up for small dump truck load. Signs for fill dirt wanted everywhere. Ed

Central Mo | I've got a bunch of river sand that the 93 flood put on us I will give you. I might even load it for ya. Got rid of a lot of it for building and bin sites. Haven't made a dent in it yet though.

central - east central Minnesota - | Screened sand is $7 bucks delivered - pit run or "clean fill" (any dirt removed from a construction site) genereally starts @ $4 bucks + delivery. Most delivery charges are around $2 bucks a yard (up to 20 miles one way) Those are some starting prices - they go up from there. That is here in our area of Mn between St. Cloud and outskirts of Mpls.

East Kansas, DeSoto | The sifting at the rock quarries from "Clean Rock" is waste to them and makes wonderful fill around here and much cheaper than fill dirt delivered. In my custom work used it many times for building sites. For me makes womderful base for drives too. Outdoor basket ball court too. Gifford

Embarrass WI | "Here" you will get paid 35-50 cents/yard for fill sand out of a pit. Whoever is getting it pays the loading and hauling. Legally you need to have a mine permit to sell it. Also, "here", if you find someone digging a pond, legally they can give you the dirt but you can't pay for it unless they get a mining permit from the DNR.

Owens Cross Roads, AL | I paid $100 a load for a tri axle, 25 yards of good red clay fill dirt. This red clay will pack like cement, it doesn't give when packed. Wilson

Mid Michigan | Yeah Ed, $10 dollars for the fill dirt and $90 for the trucking. Those "wanted free fill" signs are everywhere you go.

just come and get it. I have no clue where you are located but quarries in this part of the world will give you dirt just to get it out of our way. You may have to load it yourself or hire someone for that. I give a lot away every year.

WC MO | Seems like Kansas City or some other government would want it for spreading on the roads in the winter. Probably cheaper than whatever they are paying for what they presently use.
