west Tennessee | ok.. so not 100% machinery but, when you guys are harvesting, What type of system do you use to track your delivery of grain from each farm?
I need a clean effective method for keeping records of where the grain from each farm is delivered.
We are running two combines, with yield monitors, and four trucks.
We deliver to four elevators and an ethanol plant during harvest, as well as five on farm storage bins and a grain bagger.
to complicate things even further we have three separate farming entities that are utilizing the same equipment, bins, and trucks.
Currently.the grain buggy operator hand writes a loadticket wheneachtruck leaves the field with a destination point and which entity the grain belongs to and whether its contracted or sold as spot. when the driver returns, he gives a delivery reciept to the buggy man who attatchesit to the originalload ticket and keeps it in a folder,(or this is how its supposed to work!)
but when grain goes in the bin, there is no record.
often times we are delivering to 3 different elevators and going in the bins all on the same day and a lot of times off the same farm.
My system isnt working! drivers fail to keep tickets, or buggy opperatorlogs incorrect info.
So Question: Is there a computer program I could use to keep up with it myself? use a pda? maybe do it over my Blackberry?
WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO?
I'm looking forward to some good ideas! | |
