Subject: 9750 STS vs. two 9600's

North Dakota
Looking for thoughts/opionions from anyone familiar with 9750 combines on how one of those would stack up agoinst two 9600's.

We currently run three 9600's with 930F heads and a grain cart. Generally we have about 2,500 ac of wheat, 2,500 ac of soybeans, 500 ac of corn, and 500 ac of sunflowers to harvest in a given year. We would really like to go with two combines rather than 3 because manpower (and maintenence) is always a problem. In '08 we sold an 8820 and purchased our first grain cart and tried to run with just 2 9600's, but ended up buying the 3rd machine because we weren't getting enough done. Same deal this year, started with 2, then pulled the 3rd out of the shed reluctantly because things weren't happening fast enough.

Problem is, one of the 9600's is getting REALLY tired. So if we are going to keep running three, at a minimum we have to replace one anyways with a lower hour 9600. Also we really need to think about replacing 2 of the 3 930F heads if we are going to stick with our current set-up.

I'm considering trading 2 of the 9600's and 930F's off on a 9750 and a 635F head. But am unsure if the harvesting capacity with one 9600 and 9750 will be near my 3 combine setup now. I know it won't be the same, but will it be close enough to justify, along with the added benefits of having one less machine to maintain and find an operator for?

My brother in law starting using an 8010 with a 40 ft flex draper and says his productivity/hr (according to his moniter) is normally in the 23-25 ac/hour range on wheat. With a 9600 and 930F, shows 11-13 ac/hr in ideal going. Would a 9750 with the 635F be close to 20 ac/hr?
