Some of the responses in the "Buy Land?" thread below and a few other threads got me to thinking....................how did you wind up in your current location?   Are you still geographically close to where you grew up?  Many miles away or a few?   If you're far away from where you grew up, what precipitated the move?  Did you grow up on a farm, in town, in between?   Farm full-time or part-time?

As for me......get ready, cousinit  :~) .....we live on the farm where I grew up.  Our house is about 1/4 mile from where I spent most of my youth.  I'm an 'only', so after my husband and I had been married a few years, we had an opportunity to work into my parents' farm.   It really wasn't large enough at the time, but my dad had hopes of retiring, so we started off with not much more than some healthy debt and a group of grouchy 5th litter old sows we bought from my great-uncle.    I worked in town early on, stayed home and raised boys and hogs for a long time, then went back to a town job.  Finished that phase of life about 3 yrs ago.  Are in process of buying this farm, have added some more to the land base over the years, got rid of the hogs (PTL!), have a few cow-calf pairs with our son.  Now spending some time enjoying what life has to offer.......grandkids, a little travel, some time off when crops are done.
