Subject: Anybody know about Bendix ABS?

SE PA
I have a truck here with Bendix ABS - prevents lockup on the front and rear axle. Works great when it's loaded, front axle braking isn't a problem, but the rear..... when it's unloaded (it's a tandem) it bounces on every bump. Stoplights are much worse, cause the blacktop at those is normally rougher, and bumps just seem to occur there. If I encounter a light that I need to stop for, it'll be a hope and prayer that I stop - if the rear wheels hit a bump, the ABS thinks it's a lockup, and the brakes go completely off, they come back on, only to release again, and so on..... till I finally jab the pedal to the floor, cause the fronts are the only ones doing any work. This thing has an aluminum flatbed, and it's just not enough weight to keep it planted. It's only a matter of time till I hit another car at a light. What to do? I know the thing can be disabled. Pulling the fuse won't work, cause it also does the air dryer. Is there something wrong with the unit? Seems to function properly, just not fast enough. When we bought the truck a few years back, the warning light for ABS was on, and all it took was a magnet to reset the thing, and make it into the condition it's in now.
