I was checking on the cows/calves yesterday after I moved them to a fresh pasture. Counted the calves but there appeared to be a new one tucked away in the tall grass. Turns out one first calf heifer was a bit later than the others and evidently calved in the past few days. A nice little registerable heifer stood up and her mama went over and gave her a face cleaning. I like the pigment on this one out of my Huth U070 bull. I could get to like this May calving compared to dropping them on the ice and snow! Here are a couple pics. Also took a couple pics of my retained yearling bull 23 and a couple of his yearling steer buddies in another pasture. These have had nothing but grass, hay and mineral since winter. The steers would usually be in freezers by now, but due to insufficient grazing corn from last years drought, I guess these will be "grass finished". I may try processing one for the family and check them out. Jim
