Subject: This seems to work well if you know how to run a computer.

NE SD

We installed a Toughbook computer in our grain cart tractor. In this case a CF-18 tablet. Using a program called WinWedge and a serial cable hooked to the scale all I have to do is press tare before I unload and print after I unload. This transfers a line of info directly into Excel that includes weight, time unloaded, and date. It really works very well, but as mentioned above, within reason, everything has to go through the grain cart. I can easily add notes as to where it went or which truck was carrying it if it was headed to town. This year during bean harvest we had a lot of fields where it was a 50/50 shot as to whether the beans would go directly into the bins in one yard, or go to the dryer at a different yard. The time stamps can be double checked to a yield monitor if need be, but I try to be very careful and save my work.

The problem I have with it, is that my brother and I are the only ones that will run the program in the grain cart. Which is fine because the older guys can't seem to keep the combine moving, but my brother runs the dryer and thus I get stuck in the cart for 300+ hours.
