South East , Manitoba , Canada | Did you look at the EXEL spread sheet that gives cost of production for 159 head cow-calf operation that I posted before? I'm wondering if that was useful? I think that the costs of production for cattle producers on either side of the border are very similar. Right now I think that there is the need for a huge cull in the "cow- calf" herd. There will not be a profit in the business untill there is a prolonged shortage. The faster we reduce the production the sooner there will be a chance for a profit. I have had three really bad years in a row. If the price of calves triples I may recoup what I have lost in ten to fifteen years. |
