Don,

I think I can generate just about any number you want to see depending on the accounting. Depends a lot on how you allocate overheads, land cost etc.

I also don't sell calves. These will be freezer beef.

Overall, I figure that if fats were at about $1.30 US per pound live that would make me take an approx 1050 lb finished steer to the sale barn rather than selling as freezer beef.

Since that's about 50 cents higher than the current fat price I don't see it happening any time soon. I am not going to basically give away my "natural beef" calves as some pictured above after all the effort I put into them to raise them.  jmho.
