| Start out empty and slow, country roads with an intersection every mile and little traffic are good. At first make yourself go through all the gears to get used to the shift points. Relax and remember to ease it into the next gear, not power shift to the next. keep the rpm's down ,bump the accelerater a bit and ease her up the pattern.practice down shifting as you decellerate as you come up to intersections. You'll soon catch on to the special qualities of your truck and as you become more comfortable it will be easier. Remember you have a transmission brake so when starting from a stop you'll want to depress the clutch to the floor but never after that.. double clutching will help as you learn and I still prefer to clutch taking the stick out of gear and ease to the next with the clutch out( yes I know many of you don't clutch at allafter the initial stsrtup, but that is my preference.. The hardest thing to learn is dropping several gears at a time , such as turning corners, but again practice and familiarity with your truck will get you right where you want to be.... And remember.... relax!!! | |
