Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois | Truckers are pretty good tippers, she said--farmers never tip. After she said that, I have always tipped at least 10%, good service 15%. I saw a help wanted sign in a resturant a few years back. At that time, minimum wage was around $4.00 hr. Everybody else was paid minimum, wait staff made $2.00, was supposed to make up the difference in tips. That changed my mind about tipping also. You have to remember that for many people, waiting tables is all they have, and they are trying to earn a living and usually raising a family. However, I do resent paying 15 or 18% for an expensive meal, that can run $20 per person or more, but figure if I can't do the time, I shouldn't do the crime. I also resent manditory tips, should be my decision. Still, that is the american system, if you don't like it, don't eat out!
