Charing Cross, Ont. | You can buy pressure washers that have auto-start circuits. When the operator pulls the trigger gun the pump starts, when gun is released the unit times out and shuts off. I like a 8-12 second timer for the delayed shut down, longer ones are available and some companies have adjustable ones. The delay off is nice if you have a trigger happy operator then the motor is not constantly starting and stopping. There are flow actuated switches and pressure actuated switches to start the motors, I prefer the flow switches as you need positive flow thru the gun to start the pump, the pressure switch ones can start the pump if the pressure drops in the line with because of leaks in the system or a worn unloader valve. A real good washer would also have thermo switch in the pump also to stop the motor if the pump doesn't shut off for some reason, this protectes the pump for being burnt out. Some also have inlet pressure switch to make sure that you have enough water to run the pump without starvating it, starvation is as bad as leaving itrunning unattended.
All of this costs money but you spend it up front you don't replace pumps. | |
