Subject: RE: How many wives run the combine?

SW Mi.
My wife runs ever thing except for the chopper, the tractor (IH-3788),chopper and chopper wagon length intimidate her. I'm working on that slowly. Don't have a combine, but she gets out all equipment and greases, oils and checks gear boxes for oil levels. Yes she does basic service on the tractors. I haven't got out my corn planter and set it up for planting in years. She can set every thing from LB. of fertilizer to corn per/acre. Mows and rakes hay, disks fields, feeds cattle using a front end loader, can pull a calf as good as a vet, helps with the castrating, does all the yard work, runs between fields hauling wagons during harvest, can fix some things, can take a tier off the rim and put one back on using a handyman jack and a couple of tire irons which means she can fix a flat. Does our taxes and record keeping to take to the accountant. Then in the fall when we've finished she cleans very throughly with a pick and air all of our equipment, greases it and puts it away, with cover if necessary for the winter. Shes a great cook, weights 125lb maybe 130 is 5'2" good to look at, and I'm spoiled. How did I do this? I did this by shopping mothers. The old saying about looking at the mother is absolutely true. Her Mom is of the same type personality, believe me all you unmarried guys out there this is the way to shop for a wife. Don't waste a lot of time on the girl. Go right to the Mother to see the final product you'll end up with. In all fairness I think a lot of farm wives are of this type!
