Traill County - Eastern North Dakota | My 8820 T2 was sometimes making a thumping or banging noise when engaging all the way through 800+ acres of soybeans. Then when I was down to the last half round it would not engage again after unloading the hopper. It looks like the armature springs (clutch plate) are broken.
To finish up without taking the time for the repair I put lockup bolts in. Should you have to get the thing going for short term use you can lock up the clutch by installing 2 bolts 1/2" by 3 1/4" into the threaded holes in the triple belt sheave, the holes in the sheave are 5/8" and are used to pop the sheave off of the tappered primary counter shaft but for this use the 1/2' bolts go right passed those threads and into threaded 1/2" holes in the clutch plate.
Now for the bad news, the armature (cluch plate) is over $236 the field winding is $813. While you are in there you will want to replace your reel hydrostatic belt and your header drive belt, and check out the primary countershaft bearing. |
