Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA,
I saw in the Hoards Dairyman back a couple issues where one guy chopped his corn silage high, just under the ear, so he was only harvesting the upper portion of the cornstalk. Sounded like it should work pretty good. He was using it plus alfalfa haylage to feed his dairy cows, all stored in bags.
