Absolutely, thats why folks get off farm jobs, to pay for all the dreams. Naw, not really !!!!!
I grew up on a farm farming, after school there wasn't an abundance of land to be working, so I started a profession, been at it since '82. Still farm after hours small time but it's all I need for a fix.
When I was growing up I had to beg for a pair of Chuck Taylors and Levi's jeans. when my kids say something about shoes,clothes or what have you, we get in the car/truck and go get 2 of 'em.
With the limited amount of land available and my being afraid to take the plunge to full time farmer, the kids would never have those items. I should warn you though that the off farm jobs are addictive. It's a habit to roll out of here every mornin and head up the road, and it is also a habit to stop out at the mailbox every Thursday afternoon and get that hardy checkstub out of the mailbox. Heck they even put the money in the bank for me !!!! Don't get any better than that !!!!!! |
