| My brother and I each bought a Droid. I am happy with the reception I am getting - seems every bit as good as my old Kyocera. My brother seems to think he is getting slightly poorer reception than his old flip phone - but lives in an area that is notoriously bad for cell signal.
The camera - I am not impressed with the still pics it takes, but it does take nice video. The still pics seem a bit dark and grainy. The Droid also has a flash - but have not tried taking any pics in low light conditions to try it out. There are also some settings (white balance, etc) for adjusting pics - but I have not messed with that either, Perhaps I should - to see if I can get it to take better stills. The stills are good enough if you wanted to snap a quick pic to post on AgTalk, but definitely not good enough to be taking family pics that you intend to keep for years to come.
One thing I don't think I have mentioned yet - this phone does not give you repeat notifications of missed calls or voicemails. All it has is a small flashing green LED. I have installed an app that does give me repeat notifications. It works for missed calls, voicemail, and SMS messages. Tones and vibrate every 2, 5, 10, 15 min, etc - however you set it. It also will flash that LED different colors if you want. I have mine set to flash green for emails, blue for SMS messages, and red for missed calls or voicemail. The app works great, but this should be built right into the OS. This is not a fault of the Droid, but of Android OS. Enough people are complaining about it on their forums that I'm betting this capability will be coming in a future OS upgrade.
Also, another thing to keep in mind if you spend a lot of time placing or answering calls - you have to unlock the phone each time you place or receive a call. To place a call, you have to press the power button on the top to wake it, and then swipe your finger across the unlock thingy that pops up. When you receive a call, it will wake on its own, but you still have to do the finger swipe to unlock it. This can be a bit of a pain - cannot easily do this one-handed and I seem to feel rushed to get this all done to answer before the call goes to voice mail, especially if you are in noisy conditions and don't know how many times it has rang before you noticed it.
I'll be glad to answer any specific questions best I can. Fire away if you want..... | |
