After reading the first discussion, I happened to see our DMV girl at the diner at lunch and asked her about the 55 for D Plates. She said that yes it is plate specific. If you have D plates you have to be inspected, have an extinguisher, and triangles/flares and drive 55 just as a big truck would. I think I'm keeping my B plates on mine.
