Subject: Seasonal Grazing Dairies

Little River, TX
Ron,
Thought you might know Dave Forgey in Indiana.
You may find his web page interesting.

Dave is an interesting person. A real Gentleman and a Scholar.
At one time he was very active in AFGC. I understand he puts a lot of himself into GLCI now.

When I was young, (a long time ago) 99.9% of all dairies were to some extent grazing operations with maybe a third of the net energy from harvested feeds. Not so no. I would guess, in these times, most of the profitable dairies are grazers.

Here in TX the largest grazing dairy, milks over 1,000 head a day, using three separate parlors. The milk hands go from parlor to parlor, with a cleaning crew following along behind.
