A thread above stated some ground in Iowa sold for $8,700 the other day. How much more "lively" do you want it? In my opinion, subsidies, both existing, and proposed, help landowners most. I'm not saying this is good or bad.
It's also more likely that farmers will pay wheat tax before consumers. Several foreign countries do it.
