It boggles my mind as to what was accomplished in such a short amount of time. The amount of machinery alone that was built is simply amazing, all right here in the USA. We toured the USS Missouri when we were in Hawaii a few years ago and the amount of steel in that ship and the size of everything is unbelievable. These days we rely on so many other countries for everything we'd be in real trouble if there was another world war. We aren't self-reliant at all anymore. Not good at all in my book.
