It's sometimes hard to beat the old ways. Any new program is going to have a learning curve to it that can be quite frustrating. If you want to modify the Excel spreadsheet have you tried moving some of the stuff to other tabs on the spreadsheet? That will free up some room so you can make it more readable. We use Quickbooks here for bookeeping and payroll. Before someone tries to critique me for saying that I do not get one single cent for saying that and never have. I only say that because that's actually what we use "here", and we use it a lot. I also have clients using the online quickbooks that seems to work pretty well for them also. I don't know what the cost is for that if you use it for payroll as well. There are lots of programs out there and I'm sure you'll get lots of other good recommendations. Good luck.
