Subject: RE: Farm Show Question

Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois

Ranger Ted - 11/18/2009 09:19 Three or 4 MOJO bikini girls would catch my attention.

Some 20 years ago, I worked for a company competing with the fledging DTN, we were much bigger at the time, DTN was a small upstart.  At Louisville show, I worked our booth, and looked at the DTN booth, which had a very attractive lady selling, that advertised herself quite well.  She was selling several units.

I was surprised when a friend, not known for being a prude, came to our booth and bought our unit.  He remarked that he was buying from me, because we were more businesslike.  I asked him about that, and he said he did enjoy the view provided by the female, but felt it was out of place at a farm show, "this is business"  he said.

Personally, I like to talk to someone who really knows what they are talking about, and can explain the product,  I like literature with diagrams that explain the product.

I discovered that most of my customers (to my surprise) seemed to be attracted to flashy displays and literatature with glossy pictures.  Most seemed to want to be told what is best, not figure it out for themselves.

In short, it is difficult to answer your question, as everyone seems to be different in what attracts them.  I do know the booths with antique tractors or cars always seem to draw a crowd, even though they have nothing to do with the product the booth is selling.
