Subject: Re: Corn and bean prices

I sold all my 2007 beans for a bit over $8. Later the price of beans climbed to the mid teens and I never lost one moments sleep over that decision. If the price is good, then it really doesn't matter if someone else gets more. Almost every sale is a mistake. You either should have sold more or less. You just as well make the mistake when it's at a profitable level instead of missing the boat while waiting for your ship to come in.

It really bothers me a whole lot more to sell new corn for $4.25 and watch the market decline a dollar a bushel. What was wrong with $4.25 corn and $10 beans both of which could have been forward contracted just before the decline. Thankfully, the market has recovered and we have another opportunity. Do we take the bird in the hand or take the big gamble? I'll have fewer regrets if I sell some.
