Skip the goldfish and get a "beta", they are very tough fish and colorful. Been there done that, we used water out of the 5 gallon Culligan dispenser. Only time we lost one is when we lost power for 5 days, my 7 year old daugther had named that fish Blue Popsicle who would have guessed his fate!
