or thereabouts, to give adequate wind speed reduction while allowing for downwind snow scouring. An example- 1"x6" slats, spaced with a 2"x4" on 'edge'. Another consideration is how much wind are you dealing with? A solid 'break will need to be built quite stout, while a porous one will let some pressure off of the whole deal. Check with your university extension service for some guidelines.
