These days, in this low point in the cattle cycle, if you can provide the nutrition for the cow to raise a good calf, have all the cows bred in the fall, and make a profit, it's a job well done. Now a "good economic analysis on costs is needed to see if the cattle enterprise is sustainable, or just an expensive hobby." I learned that quote from Harlan Hughs almost 30 years ago.
