South Texas | Had a bad experince at our county fair 2 weeks ago. My daughter 9 her cow went into labor. The calf was way to big and the head turn at a bad angle. We tried then went to the vet. Finally got the calf here 2 breaths then died we tried everything. Had to go and tell my daughter that her first calf had died. Not fun..we all cried together. But her words were is my Freida is still alive(the cow) I said yes. She was still sad but understood that she could still produce another calf next year. 4-H makes kids strong and understand about all aspects of an animals life. This is her second year to show steers, she knows were they go from the sale to slaughter. We feed out our own beef also. It's still hard for both my kids when they sell, but that's life. | |
