Subject: grazing unharvested corn

eastern south central KS
Neighbor has field of dblcrop corn after wheat planted July 2. Froze out middle of Oct. so he is left with maybe 40 bu. and 35% moisture. He has 700 lb. steers he would like to turn out. He is a bit worried about foundering if they get too much grain. I told him there was more fodder then grain out there (lots of plants with no or very small ear) and steers would probably waste more than they would get so would be O.K. All responses appreciated.
