SC Iowa | If the corn is going to a wet mill, they are wanting to start with an intact, whole kernal.....wet mills extensively screen the corn before it goes to the steephouse....the cracked corn ends up in the corn gluten feed, which is the least valuable part of the product screen.......which means corn at 6-7 cents per pound becomes corn gluten feed at 4.5 cents per pound..
a dry mill may look at it a bit differently since the corn is hammermilled before starting the ethanol production process. | |
