Subject: RE: The other thing I would add to Seedguy's post....

North Central Ohio, across the Corn belt !
Jay in WA - 11/1/2009 21:08

It is like the 300 bu corn averages in the other posts. I could call there bull shot but I would really like to know how the hell Jay did that cause I can't seem to break 200 average on my pivot!!!!!!!!!!

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Heat units are my limiting factor in corn. We had more heat units this year. Plus I planted fertilized and managed for high yields. Will I be able to do it again? Not likely any time soon. Now if I could just figure out how you guys grow corn on corn with so little tillage. The down side to high yielding crops is that it's gonna take a lot of passes with the disk to make a seedbed for next year.

From My personal observations Jay, I would be Broadcasting a 3rd of the N and sulfate for next years corn on your corn stalks this fall !! Especially up your way !!! Just my personal opinion !!! for Very High Yielding Corn on Corn

The Nitrogen will help break down the residue and will allow less passes with the disc, You will also have a good N to Carbon ratio come spring and get faster, healthier germination and plant growth !!! for the next 200 plus bu corn crop
