Echunga | Here in West Mallee South Australia Yields will slightly below average im guessing.
Year to date rainfall is 240mm against average of 280mm till end of october.
Whats happened rainwise is as 24th of august we were on 128mm ytd now 16th of october 7 weeks later our rainfall has jumped to 240mm as mentioned above and crops have responed well with the very cool temps weve had during october it seems we may get a good finish to the year.
Have pockets of frost in wheat but hopefully wont amount to more than 5%
Usually hope to average in the 1.8 to 2.0 t/ha or 27 to 30 bushels per acre of wheat this year suspect it will be in the 1.2 to 1.4 t/ha range or 18 to 21 bushels per acre have some fields that will do better some will do worse.
Its been a remarkable turnaround in a short space of time
Id say the majority of South Aust in in the good to very good range, even best ever 70%,like me below average id say 20% with 10% of the state being poor.
How are other aussies faring??
Prices meanwhile are in the toilet.........
and ps crops are probably 4 weeks away from harvest here at least
