After having used both I like the mounted better, so much easier to back into your starting holes , closer, easier to see the point is down in the bottom of your hole, don't have to the side wall cave in's from your tires on the out side of the holes,
3 pt plows are not limited to 42" the only limiting part is how much you have in front of the plow. Its all about weight and traction, I have My gold digger Stealth 3pt in the classifieds for sale, if you got enough on the front it will go 6'
Pull type is easier to hook up and unhook, easier to turn with.
Mounted a lot easier to back up with, I move over what ever my spacing is and turn on the auto steer and survey in reverse, much smother for surveying than a pull plow, back right into my starter hole, let the plow down and ready to go.
just my $.02 worth.
