something does not seem right with the wear I see in your pic. I had mine off a couple years ago and did not see any at all. did you get the clearance when disengaged correct? mine is a lot older than yours but they did not change that gearbox/clutch/cross shaft setup. I do not recheck that nut, but I do inspect it every day before I crank up. have close to 4K hours on mine and there was no wear on those splines when I pulled the shaft out.
