They can have a block heater as well. Most do.

I'm not opposed at all to glow plugs. If they are all working correctly, wiring, relays and batteries in good shape they'll start as good as anything. I bought an IH 656 one time that owner said wouldn't start at all below 60*. It also has some cheesy 14 gauge wire trying to run the plugs. Replaced that and all of the plugs and it would start well below zero with no ether, and those were old school glowplugs that took 5 minutes to warm up. New ones only take a few seconds.
