Subject: RE: looking for grain cart ideas

Rivers, MB
We went to using a grain cart last year. We are using a Brent 774 (holds 750 heaped bu). We use it to fill 1000 bu semis. We go back to the trailer 2x to fill it. I would think that for your size of truck, you would want a minimum of 650 bu cart. That would barely hold 2 combine hoppers but would be enough to fill the truck. I am amazed how much grain gets harvested while dumping so 2 combine hoppers could be more than 600 bu.
I like the Brent or J&M carts. Simple and very popular. Our Brent is OK for cleaning out. If we had to do it every day/field, I would use some caulking to fill in a few corners and nooks so that it wouldn't hold grain. We are also in the seed business but not all our fields are for seed so we don't need to clean every day.
Once you have a cart, you will wonder how you harvested without one.

What size of tractor would you pull it with? You have a 8400T if I recall from some of you past pics? That would be a nice cart tractor.
