In the '50s one of my dads friends had a beat up model A Ford for a farm and hill rig, one day in a fit of inspiration they flipped the pitman arm to the top to reverse the steering. The story goes that they got fairly proficient with it and would drive over to a friends house and park it heading down the lane, then they would tell them that they had just done some work on the old "A" and ask the victim to take it for a spin and see what they thought. This usually resulted in the A in a ditch or fence row and much entertainment. Then one day one of them got a bit casual and made a quick turn in the family sedan and reverted to "model A mode" and put his dads car in the ditch on the wrong side of the road. They decided not knowing what way to turn the wheel in an emergency was not a wise course to take and returned the "A" to stock form.
