I'd have pushed the blue button and ask OnStar service if they had a idea what to do.
You'd never pull that out like that. Need to lift the front onto the ice and if you did actually do that you'd bend up the front panels of the box when it hit the ice.
On a side note: Our provincial vehicle insurance actually covers us in that situation. I'm surprised, but they do.
