North central, IA | A can a week would be a stretch. In my old farm truck this morning I noticed a 1/4 can of dr pepper left from 2 or 3 days ago. I drank it, because I was raised not waste anything.

Nwmo | I'm about where you are, my wife loves to bring me route 44 diet cherry cokes from sonic during happy hour. Usually get a fountain to start the day off. Drink caffeine free diet coke at night, can't sleep otherwise. This thread is making me realize how much I spend on drinks and extrapolate that out to monthly and yearly cost, then break it down per acre. That's not painting a pretty picture of the situation. I'm pretty well addicted to caffeine at this point, if I don't get some in the morning I feel pretty crappy.

swmn | Usually have to have a can/bottle of coke a day. What gets me in trouble is the buy 2 get one free then I usually end up drinking all 3. That's enough TP for my wife and 2 daughters for maybe a weekend.

Montana | I used to drink a lot, but have cut back to a few a month. A good friend got diagnosed with diabetes at 32. Really makes you think about the amount of sugar your slurping down in pop.

Sunburst Montana | One can of diet Mountain Dew a day if that. I can't drink regular pop. Gives me a huge stomach ache. My uncle used to drink 5-6 diet Pepsi's a day. Quit this summer and drinks straight water. His headaches went away.

ESW ND | I'm not sure where the border is, but somewhere near that, they start calling it "soda". I've called it that on occasion. It just feels weird to call it that. It's been "pop" since the age of time. johnypop - 11/10/2018 22:38 kwswan - 11/10/2018 10:15 None, but I do drink a coke or Pepsi or Dr. Pepper occasionally. We don't drink pop in the south. SW WI | Baby Bull - 11/11/2018 01:12 I drink 6-10 diet dews a day. Sometimes more. I’m addicted. I drink one to fall asleep sometimes. Sounds like my dad with regular dew in the 70’s and 80’s. Usually had to run to the small stop and go every day for a 12 pack. I remember him having empty cans on the headboard of my parents bed....never could wrap my head around that. He had several health issues that surfaced, finally cut back and switched to other brands but the seeds of a very bad diet were sown and he passed away from pancreatic cancer when he was 65. I absolutely think his soda consumption contributed to it. There was a time about 15 yrs ago I had a heavy soda consumption ( before my dads cancer). It was the go to for me during planting and harvest. I remember 1 morning it dawned on me as I was planting...not even 530 in the morning and I had a 24 oz dew gone and reaching for another. My wife and I have an occasional soda now and then, just seems like pizza and soda go together if we are out. Haven’t bought soda just to have at home in years. Water at meals, I have coffee in the morning, she has tea. We do have some flavored water we drink occasionally in the evening.

Iowa | That sounds like what I used to do. It started in college so that I could stay awake and study. Later it was to stay awake and work late on the farm. Over the next 30 years diet soda became almost my only source of fluids from the moment I would wake up until I went to sleep. I'd have some more if I got up in the middle of the night. Any disruption to the flow of caffeine would cause a bad headache. I quite cold turkey. It was miserable for about a month, but then got better. I don't crave the caffeine anymore, but it is harder to stay awake at night. -Would have done well to have bought stock in Pepsi when I was younger and to have sold it when I quite drinking it.

I used to drink 2-3 diet Cokes everyday, more during planting and harvest. I used to joke that the combine ran on diet Coke. After reading the study linking artificial sweeteners with dementia and other ailments my wife and I stopped completely. I can't say that I really feel any better physically, but I don't miss it at all. I will now have maybe 2-3 a month. My drink of choice and my source of caffeine has become unsweet tea. I have an insulated travel mug of that around all day.

It wouldn’t matter much if he’d clean up after himself. Everywhere he goes is a trail of empty cans. The fridge in the shop is full of empty boxes. I never thought it was that hard to throw an empty box in the trash when you grab the last one. If he takes one of the trucks somewhere, even somewhere close, you can count on the trash can in it needing emptied. He walked over to my truck to set a part in the cab, maybe 100’ from the shop and sure enough there was an empty can halfway there, couldn’t even carry it the rest of the way to throw it in the trash.

NW Illinois Stephenson county | I used to drink 2-3 cans of Pepsi a day. I decided one day about 14 years to stop drinking it and have a glass of milk with my evening meal instead. My hunters didn't get the message and still brought me a 24 pack of Pepsi and some year old deer sausage. After sitting around a year or 2 one of the cans started to leak so I set the 24 pack outside. After a few more months I had a 24 pack of empty cans. When I go out for pizza I still like a Pepsi, but that's about it. Plus drinking more milk helped reduce leg cramps at night.

Pretty much gave it up, 12 pack would last me a year. Beer on the other hand.......I didn't give that up. And it's cheaper!

Ottawa, Ontario | 260david437 - 11/10/2018 17:06 This is my 6 month supply of Gatorade and Pepsi and my wife’s 2 week supply of Diet Pepsi I can’t even look at the that ! Those beverages are basically Candy. It’s like eating from a bowl of Candy all day long. Bad for your teeth, your digestion, your heart, blood, insulin levels etc etc etc And it causes your body to become acidic. Cancer does not thrive in an alkaline environment, but loves an acidic environment. Just think about it. Not one good thing comes from consuming pop or soda. Not one.

Mid MO | I think that line is somewhere in Missouri! Here, we drink sodee pop, shell corn, and eat 'coon. Used to have a lot of stripin' sheds and 'bacca when I was young. Yesterday, I baked two 'tator pies. My mil says the mason dixon line is somewhere north of Keyettesville. But she'd never seen link sausage before moving here. She's from Marceline. Biggest thing I notice, is when we go to a carry in in N MO, they always separate the cornbread and chilli . Put the chilli with the soup and the cornbread with the yeast rolls. Here we eat them together. Think the break down is: Mis-ur-ri north Mis-ur-rah south Mizz-our-ri St. Louis Don't drink soda, used to drink a diet dew or two everyday. Mostly water and 1.5 cups of coffee every morning. Milk, no sugar and strong. (20181110_213114 (full).jpg) Attachments ---------------- 20181110_213114 (full).jpg (121KB - 24 downloads)

Milk, no sugar and strong. Very seldom do I drink Dr Pepper anymore. It used to be a treat to buy the old type bottled in TX with cane sugar. It feels odd for me to call it soda or pop or even a combination of the two. In TX there are sometimes strong disagreements over whether chili can have beans or not. Some chili competitions strictly forbid beans. As far as drinks with caffeine, I do like iced tea. Only drink coffee on mornings when driving long distances.

Puckerville Dead center N.Y. | Used to drink a 2 liter of Dr. Pepper a day. About 10 years ago I just quit one day. Didn't drink any for a few years. Now I have one when we go out to lunch or dinner. We don't live close to anything fast-food so we only go out a couple times a month average. Sometimes we don't go out for a couple months. I do drink on average a gallon of water daily. Don't drink beer that often either.

Saronville NE | I quit cold turkey harvest 17 stuck with it till bout planting time now back in it but nothing like before. Cause now I can go couple days without and doesn't bother. But I'd say avg one 16.9 oz bottle Dr pepper a day. Before I quit cold turkey I avgd 2-32 o, fountains a day plus a 16.9 oz bottle a day of Dr pepper. I crave something sweet all the time I did when quit too so sweet tea. Sweet tea has bout same amount of sugar and caffeine as pop so didn't help much. I have a hard time drinking straight water unless very hot outside. When younger Mt dew was my thing I had weeks on tractor I'd go thru 8-20 oz bottles a day. I won't hardly touch Mt dew any more.

just a tish NE of central ND | Even one is too much imho...I try to stay away from sodas but I fail. I probably should have bought STOCK in Coke and Pepsi 40 years ago as a retirement plan and avoid drinking it myself totally. I can hardly believe how expensive it has become in my lifetime. As a little kid you could buy a glass returnable bottle for a dime and then for 15 cents and when I graduated it was .25 cents a can at the school machine..Kids hardly even bought any of it back then due to the price and a quarter was hard for kids to get ahold of. . (3.75$ wheat) ..then in stores soon after, the bigger single bottles are buck...then 2 for 2 $ then 2 for 2.50, now 2 for 3.00 and I think its even higher already. and that listed like its a special deal or something....... ugh..since when should 2 twenty ounces of sugar water cost more than a bushel of corn or 40 pounds of wheat . Its just dumb expensive in relationship. Edited by School Of Hard Knock 11/12/2018 09:52
