CIL | Yes. Even worse with the latest round of mergers in agriculture. Too many of our inputs, like seed, are sourced from markets that are oligopolies (a market dominated by a handful of players).
I'm always reminded of the notion some guys have during low crop price cycles. "If everyone would just mow off a few acres, then the price would go up." The response...."you first". Getting all farmers to do that would be like herding cats.
Too few suppliers and a lot of farmers = poor bargaining power for us. | |
