| Since the time of Joseph and Pharaohs of Egypt, governments have been concerned about food security and any government who neglects it, does so at their own risk. With a nation of 320 million and world population of 7.5 billion, somebody better be figuring out where the next meal is coming from.
Besides, compared to the money they spent on the military and homeland security, the money spent on monitoring the food supply is trivial. And not only that, when was the last time a private company was obligated to tell you what they discovered in their surveys. If they tell you, it's because they know the USDA will tell you anyways. | |
