Hi Wurtzy,

I have started my calves out on a 2X / day feeding schedule - they definitely come when called! :-) They are getting around 2.75 # / hd/day as fed = 1# oats, 0.5 # 34% all natural pellet w/rumensin, and 1.2 # of a 16% commodity pellet. They are getting my best grass hay - no fescue - but I don't have as many bales of my good grass as normal. I will have to tub grind some of my fescue pasture hay to make it through my 60-65 day backgrounding (Sell 1st week of December in Creston).

I will also start including some whole shell corn this weekend. I try to get them up to about 2.5-3 # shell corn by the end of my backgrounding.

Thank goodness for the cooldown! Your Grandpa was a wise man! (Love the quote)
