Subject: RE: Wondering if bull calf will be able to breed

I have never kept any bull calves back for one use in our herd, just weighing out some options of what I should do with this one calf. I’ve been spending good money on bulls for the last few years and just wondering what the outcome would be by breeding our own heifers to a home grown bull.

If I do use him I would diffently get him semen tested a few times and might wait tell he goes through puberty and get him tested. He is 7 months old at the moment. If he passed semen test I would just expose him to 10-15 cows early and monitor them and see if any come back into heat.

I am just wondering if the sack will get bigger and nuts drop further once in puberty. It hard to tell now as it’s been cold out and all the bulls nuts have been sucked up for the last month.
