NNW Nebraska | If he has Alfalfa, you don't really need protein. 1/4 to 1/3 alfalfa should be enough with grass hay.
Roughly 2# hay is equal to 1# corn, but using much corn, mught need to up alfalfa to 1/3 of ration or More.
Have saw grain tanks in bale processers.
Any chance he has a gravity wagon you could put corn in. Rig a rope & spring to open chute while driving down windrow?
Corn on frozen ground will work good, mud not good.
Neighbour feeds ear corn. Puts 5 speed in granny, low range, lets pickup go, gets in back & scoops it out.
Corn in loader bucket, dump in piles.
