SW Wisconsin | How the heck is hay that cheap there? I'm seeing large rounds, 2nd or 3rd crop grass, maybe a 1500 lb bale advertised at $100/bale in Wisconsin. I just bought a trailer load of supposedly decent stuff, some tough spots (haven't seen it, but I know the guy). 3x3x8 squares for $60/each.
On the other hand, how is hay here so expensive? Weather was good for putting up a lot of hay, and the guys buying decent quality stuff should be dairy guys that haven't got 2 nickels to rub together. Plus corn is cheap, so you can stock up on silage and grain. | |
