Northern KY | I run 40 cows, and sold all my hay equipment 2 years ago. I have enough storage to keep 300 bales under roof and buy from about 4 or 5 different guys locally. It has worked out for me very nicely, I filled my barn up the first year and the key to it is to keep it filled, if you feed 75 bales be on the look out for 75 more bales at a decent price to restock, by doing this it will set you up for when hay prices do climb because you will have enough to keep things going, that's what I have done and wouldn't go back to putting hay up. I got tired of equipment purchases, breakdowns, fertilizer, seed cost, weather, time related issues and the Aggervation of it all. | |
