Western Ohio | I would do it in a heartbeat. I would only add that I really think you need to be able to store inside 2 years of hay at a time to do this. You have to keep your self some cushion against the really dry droughty year. Also be careful of late springs. This past year in Ohio allot of hay got used in last half April first half of May that usually never would have been needed.
What do you figure your 4x5's weigh right now? 500#? times 300 bales is 150,000 lbs or 75 tons or 2.5 tons per cow. How much will it cost to buy 75 tons of hay? Do you have room to store 150 tons of hay in a barn at once? Might consider buying large square bales as they store in side much much better and take allot less room.
