Had a birthday diner at the family farm in far southern McLean County Illinois today. Corn all black layered, almost 100% of the ears still upright and around 25%. Looks to be mom and dad and brother's best corn crop ever. Had a dry May but just a few 7 day or so dry periods during grain fill. Black layered a few days earlier than normal after silking (57ish days instead of 60 in a normal year). Likely lighter/smaller kernels than last year but a lot more ears/acre and kernels/ear. Garden best ever also...
