EC SoDak | As Conan has made the point, as I take it vs how he meant it, the advancements are unreal and what used to be low yielding areas of the belt are not so much any more. I attribute my areas yields to rain patterns, finally being able to tile (probably the biggest one for me) and seed companies finally putting some effort into shorter day hybrids. The best dirt in my neck of the woods never performed well due to too wet (even with tile, this year will show that because of excessive mid season moisture, not unlike 2015 but worse) I don’t think it’s too shocking to anyone that seed companies spent a lot of time on I State hybrids vs other areas. Those other areas can grow some phenomenal corn now thanks to companies realizing our potential with some effort. | |
